Submission Guidelines

The JNSLP invites submissions of manuscripts on a rolling basis.

Delivery Method: Manuscripts should be submitted via email at info@jnslp.com and include author resumes.

Length: Preferred length of articles is 5,000 to 15,000 words (or approximately, 12-35 book pages); however, the JNSLP remains flexible on article length, and accepts longer articles when the topic and treatment merit more extensive discussion.

Citation Format: Submissions must conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (Eighteenth Edition).

Document format: We strongly encourage contributors to submit their manuscripts in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx). Documents should use a Times 11pt or a larger sized font and heading levels should be clearly noted. All printed documents should utilize numbered pages and text should be printed on one side of the page only. Manuscripts should provide author affiliations as an initial unnumbered footnote.

The JNSLP does not accept submissions of Student Notes.

Review Process: Authors receive acknowledgement of their submissions by email from the managing editor. The JNSLP will conduct an initial review to assess the article’s relevance for our readership. Manuscripts that pass the initial review are forwarded to two (anonymous) peer reviewers. Authors can expect to receive the results of the peer review from the managing editor within two weeks following the initial review.

Production: The managing editor oversees the checking of facts and citations, and stylistic editing, and will forward citation queries to the authors. Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of their citations.

Offprints: Authors receive 50 free offprints. For questions on ordering offprints, please contact Pauline Rodriguez on 916-739-7171.
